Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services staff will provide an update regarding the progress of repairs to the Bancroft Park band shell as well as next steps in implementing proposed enhancements to the park itself.

Previous Council Action:
An update was provided to City Council on March 13, 2017 and April 24, 2017. On March 28, 2017 City Council approved a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $250,000 for the project.

Background:
In the early morning hours of January 27th a fire occurred in the band shell structure located at Bancroft Park, 2408 W. Colorado Avenue, in Old Colorado City. Subsequent to the fire City Park staff initiated a public process to gauge the community's interest in reconstructing the band shell and enhancing the features of the band shell specifically and the park in general. Meetings were held with Old Colorado City stakeholders and two community meetings were conducted to gauge the public's interest in the band shell repairs and for modifications to the park master plan. On May 11, 2017 the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Advisory Board unanimously approved a revised master plan for the park and approved a proposed 2018 CIP budget allocation of $250,000 to go toward the master plan's implementation. A LART application for $250,000 was also submitted for consideration for the 2018 budget. No official word has been received on the LART application as of yet.

An RFP process was held to identify a contractor to perform the repairs and Murphy Contractors was selected and received notice to proceed with the work on May 19, 2017. To date all of the repairs related to the fire damage have been completed.
