Summary:
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world. It takes place every April during Global Volunteer Month.
The City of Colorado Springs offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities with thousands of individuals serving throughout the year in all of these capacities. Each year we recognize and thank these volunteers who lend their time, talent, and voice to make a difference in our community.
Background:
Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week is about taking action, encouraging individuals and their communities to be at the center of positive change. Within the City of Colorado Springs, Volunteers contributed over 170,000 hours of service to the community in 2023 with an estimated value of over 6.1 million dollars based on the latest state value of $34.36 per hour.
