Title
A Resolution Recognizing April 10-14, 2023 as Community Development Week

Presenter:
Randy Helms, President Pro Tem and Councilmember District 2
Barb Van Hoy, Policy Analyst, Community Development Division
Steve Posey, Community Development Manager

Body
Summary:
With this resolution, the Community Development Division hopes to highlight the impact of its Community Development Block Grant funding.

The Division is still tabulating outcomes from its 2022 program year, so the following numbers are from PY 2021:
* Division used CDBG, HOME, and ESG funds to leverage $12,183,363.85 in additional public and private resources throughout the program year to provide critical services, infrastructure, and housing. CDBG funding leveraged $8.8 million (2021 CAPER)
* Over 20,500 individuals were direct beneficiaries of CDBG-funded services
* An additional 2,556 were served by CDBG CARES Act funding
* CDBG funds allowed 116 households to age in place and/or receive essential home repairs

This is a fraction of the financial, civic and social impact these funds have on our neighborhoods and families. We invite Council and the public to follow the Division's Community Development Week activities, such as:

Background:
National Community Development Week was created in 1986 to bring national attention to the CDBG Program through grassroots support at a time when the program was facing scrutiny by Congress. The main objective of National Community Development Week is the education of Congressional members on the importance of CDBG, its impact and the need for increased program funding.
