Summary:
Current City Code allows residents to keep two hoofed pets (miniature goats) per dwelling. This ordinance would create standards to allow residents to keep up to four miniature goats as part of an urban agriculture practice. New standards include a requirement for housing for the goats and setbacks from dwellings. Additional changes would allow residents to keep up to fifteen chickens or rabbits, depending on lot size, and remove provisions for a variance.

On December 13, 2022 City Council approved a limited moratorium on enforcement of certain Chapter 6 standards so that residents could keep three or four miniature goats. The moratorium expires on March 25, 2023.
