A petition committee turned in a citizen-initiated ordinance for the authorization a special Retail/Recreational Marijuana sales tax, which is now deemed sufficient in meeting the required minimum number of A signatures


Background:
The City Clerk has completed the petition verification process for the special Retail/Recreational Marijuana Sales Tax initiated ordinance packets. The petitions meet the minimum required number of valid signatures and are deemed sufficient to proceed to the next steps.

Pursuant to City Charter Article XII, 12-40, the City Clerk shall present the Certificate to City Council.

Pursuant to City Charter Article XII, 12-60(a)(2) if the petitions contain the required minimum number of valid signatures, the City Council shall within twenty (20) days either adopt the ordinance without alteration or refer to a special election.

Pursuant to City Charter Article VII, 7-90(c)(1) a TABOR election may occur on a State general election, the biennial city election, or on the first Tuesday in November of odd-numbered years.
