Summary:
This is an intergovernmental agreement with the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder for the 2021 Coordinated Election.
Background:
State law requires all entities participating in the November 2, 2021 Coordinated Election to sign and return intergovernmental agreements to participate in this election by no later than August 24, 2021.
Previous Council Action:
On July 13, 2021 City Council passed a resolution declaring their intention to hold a Special Municipal Election and to participate in the 2021 Coordinated Election being conducted by the El Paso County Clerk and recorder.
On July 26, August 9, August 10 and August 24, City Council will consider potential ballot questions for a Special Municipal Election and refer questions to be placed on a ballot in a coordinated November 2021 election.
Financial Implications:
The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder will provide an estimate for the City’s share of the cost to participate in the 2021 Coordinated Election. An analysis will be done to determine if a supplemental appropriation is needed, or if this amount can be accommodated within the current General Costs appropriation.
