Summary:
Repeal of the alarm company license requirement with companion ordinance to amend City Code 8.5.101 et. Seq. to move to a registration and permit system through the Colorado Springs Police Department. The ordinance has an effective date of September 1, 2021.

Background:
The proposed repeal of the alarm company license and move to a registration and permit system through the Colorado Springs Police Department will bring efficiencies to the alarm company business and citizen users by housing this service in one department. The City Clerk worked closely with the Colorado Springs Police Department in preparation for this transition.

There is no impact to the General Fund.

In addition to the stakeholder engagement process conducted by the Colorado Springs Police Department for amendments to City Code 8.5.101 et. seq., the City Clerk sent an email to licensees explaining the proposed changes and requesting comments.
