Summary:
The purpose of this resolution is to continue the authorization for Commercial Driver License (CDL) testing by the City of Colorado Springs on behalf of the State. Allowing the City to renew this intergovernmental agreement as a third party testing unit provides the City with the ability to qualify employees to carry out commercial driving functions all the while maintaining a high level of safety for the general public.
Background:
Colorado Revised Statute 42-2-407 allows for commercial driving testers employed by commercial driver’s license testing units to give the driving skills tests. The City has been authorized to provide CDL testing by a prior IGA that is set to expire June 30, 2020. The IGA to be approved by this resolution will continue the City’s authorization by the Department of Revenue to administer the required test for the City’s CDL drivers.
