Title
Ordinance No. 20-26 amending Section 104 (deposit of coins or tokens; time limits; prohibitions) of Article 15 (parking meter regulations) of Chapter 10 (motor vehicles and traffic) of the Code of the City of Colorado Springs 2001, as amended, pertaining to time limitations for deposit of tokens at metered parking spaces
Presenter:
Scott Lee, Parking Enterprise Director, Parking Enterprise Fund
Body
Summary:
This proposed amendment to City Code section 10.15.104(E) would allow the City's Parking Enterprise to charge for metered parking on Sundays after one o'clock (1:00) pm. This would be consistent with the long-standing policy of charging for parking in the City's public parking structures.
Background:
UPDATE FOLLOWING THE APRIL 27th WORK SESSION:
City Code section 10.15.104 (E) currently exempts charging a fee for parking at parking meters on Sundays and holidays, as designated in the City Code. At the April 27, 2020 Work Session, the City Council requested an amendment to the original proposal (which allowed charging a fee all day on Sunday) to only allow charging a fee for parking at metered parking spaces on Sundays after one o'clock (1:00) p.m. The ordinance has been updated to reflect the request and this proposed amendment to the City Code would permit charging a fee for parking at metered parking spaces on Sundays after one o'clock (1:00) pm.
