Mathcounts 2020 Regional Competition Winners

Background:
On Saturday, February 8, 2020, the regional competition of MATHCOUNTS was held at Challenger School. Teams from 8 local middle schools with 48 students participating in the advanced mathematics contest by the Pikes Peak Chapter of National Society of Professional Engineers - Colorado. This was the 38nd anniversary of the math contest for 6th, 7th and 8th graders developed by the National Society of Professional Engineers

The top team was:
Challenger Middle School - 1st Place Team
Jonathan Stalp(M), Yicheng Zhang(F), Helen Schaefer(F), Nikhil Pudtha(M)

The top place individuals who are also going to State are:
Aashay Deshpande(M) from Mountain Ridge Middle School - 1st Place
Amari Luu(M) from Chinook Trail Middle School- 2nd Place
Michael Lieber(M) from Timberview Middle School - 3rd Place
Kaylee Killbreath(F) from Challenger Middle School - 4th Place
Allan Sindler(M) from Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy


The top team of 4 and the next 5 top students will be going to the State Competition to be held on March 14th at the University of Colorado Denver at their Anschutz Campus in Aurora.
