Title
A Resolution Designating July as National Park and Recreation Month
Presenter:
Karen Palus - Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director
Body
Summary:
In an effort to highlight the breadth and depth of the Colorado Springs parks system, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is asking City Council to recognize July as National Park and Recreation Month. To illustrate to the community that parks and recreation are more than just playgrounds and rec centers, the Department is highlighting the sometimes undiscovered offerings of the Department, including innovative health and wellness opportunities, community celebrations, outdoor education, maintenance and much, much more. In addition to all of the activities already scheduled throughout the summer season, the Department will be hosting an “Open House” event on July 21st at Acacia Park. The development of this event will be guided by the National Recreation and Park Association theme entitled "A Lifetime of Discovery."
