Body
Summary:
The primary goal of the project is to replace the existing bridges within North Cheyenne Ca?on Park. This replacement is driven by the condition of the existing bridges which all are load posted due to their reduced load carrying capacity. The project will also address and improve other issues including: reduced hydraulic capacity, substandard safety features and roadway geometry issues.
North Cheyenne Ca?on Park is a treasured feature of the City of Colorado Springs and very important to the local community. Citizens have been using the park for generations and the majority of access has been over the bridges on North Cheyenne Ca?on Road. These bridges are approaching 100 years old and are in need of replacement in order to keep the park open and safe for its users.
This project will package three bridge replacements together in order to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. The current funding for the project is $2,861,253.00 of grant money and $558,501.00 of local match.
