Body
Summary:
The primary goal of the Platte Avenue Bridge Project over Sand Creek, identified by the Colorado Department of Transportation as Project #STM M240-163 (21130) (the "Project"), is to replace two existing bridges. This replacement is driven by the existing condition of the bridge decks. In addition to the replacement of the bridges, consideration and planning for future capacity improvements within the Platte Avenue corridor will be studied as an element of the Project.
The total cost of planned improvements within the corridor is anticipated to equal $14,035,942. This IGA totaling $3,980,148, for which approval is being requested, combines funding from three sources. The sources and amounts are as follows: Federal funds of $3,295,164, a City General Fund match of $349,563 (appropriated in the 2016 budget) and PPRTA match of $335,421. We expect future amendments to the IGA. The sources of funds will be Federal funds and PPRTA match.
The proposed resolution is a required attachment to the CDOT IGA. Public Works requests that City Council authorize the Mayor to execute the IGA.

Background:
Because of the importance of Platte Avenue as one of the community's "East/West Mobility Corridors", the City has been planning improvements throughout the corridor. Some of these improvements are already under construction and additional funding is being pursued.
The Project supports the City's strategic goal relating to investing in infrastructure.
Financial Implications:
This request does not require any additional appropriations from the City. The City General Fund match of $349,563 was appropriated in the 2016 budget.
