Travis Easton, P.E. Director of Public Works

 Summary:

 Background:
National Public Works Week (NPWW) is observed each year during the third full week of May.  Through NPWW, the American Public Works Association (APWA) seeks to raise the public's awareness of public works issues, call attention to the importance of public works in community life, and to increase confidence in public works employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for present and future generations.

NPWW was instituted as a public education campaign by the American Public Works Association in 1960.  In 1960, the United States Senate signed a resolution affirming the first National Public Works Week, and in 1962 a Presidential Proclamation was signed by John F. Kennedy.  Over the years the observance has often been marked with scores of resolutions and proclamations from mayors and governors.
