Title
A resolution endorsing and supporting the nomination of Colorado Springs City Council President Pro Tem Jill Gaebler to the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board

Body
From:
Eileen Lynch Gonzalez, City Council Administrator

Summary:
The City of Colorado Springs is a long-time member of the Colorado Municipal League (CML) and is in the "large city" category (for municipalities with a population of 250,000 or more) for purposes of representation on the Executive Board. Former Councilmember Jan Martin served on the Executive Board for four years until her recent departure from office due to term limits. President Pro Tem Jill Gaebler is qualified and interested in being nominated to serve on the Executive Board in a newly-created category of Board membership for municipalities with populations of 250,000 or more. In order to be nominated for the position, the CML bylaws require that a municipal official file a letter of application, including an endorsement in writing from the applicant's city council.

Members whose names are placed on the ballot by the CML Nominating Committee will be voted on by the full CML membership (one vote per member municipality) at the CML Annual Business Meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2015, beginning at 1:45PM during the CML Annual Conference in Breckenridge. Each CML participating member municipality is entitled to vote to fill all vacancies on the board regardless of population category.

Because the 250,000+ population category of representation on the CML Executive Board is a newly-created one, the two available positions will be filled as follows: a two-year term will be filled by the candidate with the highest number of votes in the category, and a one-year term will be filled by the candidates with the second highest number of votes.
