Summary:
The Transit Services Division has been awarded $180,000 in FASTER grant funding by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Background:
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) administers the state's Funding Advancement Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery (FASTER) grant program, which includes a funding allocation for transit projects and programs. Through this program, CDOT awarded the City of Colorado Springs Transit Services Division $180,000 to restore or replace existing and install up to four new bus stop shelters in the community. The required local match of $45,000 will be provided by PPRTA Transit funds budgeted for this purpose.

The Transit Services Division has an ongoing program for maintaining facilities, which includes the repair and replacement of bus stop amenities to ensure bus stops are safe, comfortable, and attractive for customers and the community as a whole.

Financial Implications:
The total cost for the project is $225,000. CDOT's FASTER grant will fund 80% ($180,000) of the cost and the 20% local match ($45,000) will be provided by PPRTA funds budgeted for this purpose.

Board/Commission Recommendation:
Transit Services Division Staff presented the 2014 FASTER Transit Funding program to the Citizens' Transportation Advisory Board (CTAB) on September 2, 2014.

Stakeholder Process:
Staff will provide rider and public notifications per Transit's Public Participation Plan's guidelines for the modification...
