Summary:
This is the first update of 2019 from the Human Relations Commission (HRC) representatives to Council members on membership, discussions, and initiatives.

Background:
After disbanding in 1995, the Human Relations Commission was re-established by City Council in 2010. Their purpose, as amended by a 2012 ordinance, is to provide a referral resource to members of the community; developing and promoting outreach, programs and forums relating to diversity issues, equal rights and equal opportunity for people in employment, housing, public accommodations, education, services and other concerns that may affect the social well-being of the community; assisting in resolution of conflicts regarding human relations issues, including neighborhood disputes, through dialogue, facilitation, forums and other means; and making recommendations to City Council regarding matters of social importance to the community.
