Background:
Pikes Peak Community College is the largest, most diverse, public higher-education institution in the Pikes Peak region, serving nearly 20,000 students annually; and hundreds of thousands of people have taken classes at PPCC since its founding as El Paso Community College in 1968. Pikes Peak Community College offers quality college transfer, career, technical, and lifelong-learning educational opportunities; associate degrees, certificate programs, and now its first bachelor’s degree; as well as concurrent enrollment options for high school students. Pikes Peak Community College classrooms serve more active military and veterans than any other college in Colorado.
Pikes Peak Community College contributes over $300 million in added income to the region, equal to about 1% of the GRP. For every $1 spent on education, PPCC students achieve $3.60 in future earnings, and for every $1 of public money spent on PPCC, taxpayers receive a return of $8.30.
