  Summary:

Old Colorado City is a neighborhood in the City of Colorado Springs that contributes significantly to the cultural life of the Pikes Peak Region.  This resolution recognizes Old Colorado City as a “creative corridor” connecting the Creative Districts of Downtown Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs.

 

  Previous Council Action:

  Background:

In 2018, several exciting improvements to the First Friday Art Walk program are planned for the corridor described in the resolution.  Shuttle service will expand to include Manitou Springs, with another loop to include pick up and drop off in Old Colorado City.  Shuttle service is scheduled to begin April 6, 2018, adding April through July and November through December, which is an expansion of the service that operated July through October in 2017.

Representatives of the Manitou Springs Creative District, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and COPPeR have submitted letters of support for the resolution (attached).  In addition, the Downtown Partnership has reviewed and is in support of the resolution.
