Title
Ordinance No. 17-81 amending Section 101 (Mayor) and Section 108 (Ordinance Approval and Adoption; Disapproval or Veto) of Part 1 (Elective Officers) of Article 2 (Officers of the City) of Chapter 1 (Administration, Personnel, and Finance) of the Code of the City of Colorado Springs 2001, as amended, pertaining to elective officers
Presenter:
Councilmember Don Knight
Wynetta Massey, City Attorney
Body
Summary:
During 2016, as part of the citywide “code scrub” effort to review City Code for necessary updates, members of City Council and representatives of the executive branch convened working committee to review the provisions of Chapter 1 (Administration) and certain provisions of other chapters that are administrative in nature. As a result of that review, the group recommends a number of changes to certain administrative provisions of City Code.
This ordinance amends Section 1.2.101 of Chapter 1 relating to Council’s duties to provide its strategic plan and goals and its annual report to the citizens, requiring City Council to provide such to the Mayor no later than the first Monday in April each year for the Mayor’s consideration; and requiring identified line items in an ordinance appropriating funds. The ordinance amends Section 1.2.108 of Chapter 1, removing a requirement to include a block for the date and initials of the City Attorney’s review on ordinances considered by Council.
