  Summary:

Julie George will present City Council with a plaque recognizing Colorado Springs’ recent award of Elite Status from LiveWell Colorado’s HEAL Cities & Towns Campaign, in recognition of the City’s adoption of healthy eating and active living policies that help make it a healthy place to live, work, and play.

  Background:

In recent years, City Council has adopted a number of policies relating to healthy eating and active living, including the adoption of a cottage foods ordinance in October 2016.

  Board/Commission Recommendation:

The Colorado Springs Food Policy Advisory Board was created in early 2016 to advise City Council and the El Paso County Commissioners on matters of policies, programs, operations and land use rights affecting local food issues.  The board sponsored the cottage foods ordinance and is currently considering a variety of additional policy issues relating to local food issues.
