Summary:
The attached Ordinance is a supplemental appropriation of revenue and expenditure in the General Fund in the amount of $100,000. The expenditure appropriation is for the associated increase in enforcement activities resulting from the updated fee schedule and ability to hire a License Enforcement Officer, and are offset by the fee revenue, for the following Departments:
$23,000 City Clerk's Office for Salaries and associated Operating costs
$42,000 Police Department for Salaries and associated Operating costs
$35,000 Mayor's Office for Salaries and associated Operating costs
The source of funds is the increased Medical Marijuana (MMJ) Business Application and Licensing Fee Revenue collected by the City Clerk's Office.
Previous Council Action:
On November 27, 2016, City Council approved the 2017 Budget per Ordinance No. 16-116, which included the appropriation for the General Fund.
Background:
On May 30, 2017, the City Council Budget Committee received a presentation providing an overview of the proposed Medical Marijuana (MMJ) Business Application and Licensing Fee Revenue, and associated revenue impact.
Financial Implications:
The proposed fee schedule will generate an estimated and additional $282,200 in fee revenue annually. The 2017 revenue and expenditure impact is estimated to be $100,000, as the proposed fee schedule has an effective date of August 1, 2017.
