  Summary:

Brief overview and discussion on the history and licensing process for Medical Marijuana businesses in Colorado Springs.

 

  Previous Council Action: 

                     Ord. 10-45 - Created a new licensing code section for Medical Marijuana businesses and authorized established MMJ businesses to remain in operation if the business filed a pre-application registration prior to the close of business on 6/30/2010, and prohibited the MMJ business from being in a residential zone or located within 400’ of a school, an alcohol or drug treatment facility, or a residential child care facility.
                     Ord. 10-107 - Amended the zoning code for MMJ uses and definitions.
                     Ord. 11-32 - Established the City’s Medical Marijuana License Code, outlining application and licensing requirements and unlawful acts.
                     Ord. 13-47 - Prohibited Retail Marijuana Establishments within the city limits.

 

  Background:

At the regular 9/22/2015 meeting, City Council discussed a proposed moratorium on MMJ Businesses and Marijuana Consumption Club Land Use approvals.  City Council requested an overview of the licensing and approval process for MMJ businesses.
