  Summary:

City Charter Article III, Section 3-10(e) and City Code Section 1.2.203 require City Council to set the compensation of the City Auditor by ordinance.

 

  Previous Council Action: 

Denny Nester was appointed City Auditor on June 14, 2011 (Ordinance No. 11-50) at a salary of $128, 397, plus an additional ten percent above this base salary in recognition of the City Auditor’s duties to Memorial Health System and Colorado Springs Utilities, for a total of $141,237 annually.  His salary was increased effective March 30, 2014 (Ordinance No. 14-33) to $144,061 annually.

 

  Background:

Based on a recent performance evaluation, the Audit Committee recommends a 1.5% increase in the City Auditor’s salary, to $146,221.92.

 

  Financial Implications:

The salary increase is $2,160.92 annually.

 

  Board/Commission Recommendation:

The Audit Committee has reviewed and recommends the increase.

  Alternatives:

If the ordinance is not approved, the City Auditor’s salary will remain at its current amount.
