Summary:
Each May is designated Historic Preservation Month by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and as Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month by the State of Colorado. The City of Colorado Springs features many historic treasures that will be celebrated during the month.
Previous Council Action:
The City Council previously proclaimed May 2018 to be Historic Preservation Month.
Background:
Preservation Month is an opportunity to create awareness of the rich history of the City and to recognize the ongoing community efforts to preserve its history. Throughout May, the agents of historic preservation and neighborhood organizations will work together to highlight the cultural and historic resources within the City limits.
This year, the Historic Preservation Board are proud to present Historic Preservation Month to City Council, and would like to encourage citizens to attend historic workshops, tours, support other preservation activities through the month of May, and thank the City Council for their support of Historic Preservation.
