In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly declared that the first Monday in October be World Habitat Day to recognize the concerns and conditions of adequate shelter for all humans, and to encourage grassroots action toward improving housing conditions worldwide; and, Through the Cost of Home campaign, Habitat commits to mobilizing our partners, volunteers and community members across the U.S. to find the solutions and help create the policies that will improve home affordability for 10 million individuals.
