Body

  Summary:

Division CARE is uniquely positioned to provide assistance to people facing eviction as we are the only entity that knows who that population is and how to reach them. Every eviction filing results in an invitation letter from Division CARE being sent to the tenant facing eviction. Using that practice, we consistently resolve prior to trial over 15% of our caseload with great outcomes for the tenants. The program functions as a community resource but also as a very effective tool for docket management. Division CARE, by partnering with community agencies and serving the public, has helped to restore legitimacy and respect to the Courts. The program has also helped manage the housing crisis in Colorado Springs-an impact that measurably assists local businesses and residents. An economically viable, thriving city draws new residents and commercial investment. Our program is not a benefit, social or welfare program. It is instead an ingenious tool to support the ongoing economic health of the Springs and its surrounding areas.
