Body
Summary:
The Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County will continue to provide mutual support for snow removal and snow and ice control on roadway segments throughout the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County.
Background:
The City of Colorado Springs Operations & Maintenance Division and the El Paso County Highway Division have collaborated for many years to provide snow and ice control services on roadway segments that are jurisdictional to each entity. The exchange of services is typically limited to the street sections that pass-through county enclaves or parallel the city limits for short distances. This partnership has allowed each agency to avoid sending crews or transporting anti-icing materials long distances over the other entity's roadways and has proven beneficial to operational efficiencies and resource management. The IGA extends this partnership until 2032.
Previous Council Action:
City Council has approved previous agreements since 1991.
Financial Implications:
There is no financial impact on the City as snow and ice control services are included in the existing operating budget. The exchange allows for a more efficient use of the existing resources.
