Summary:
The proposed ordinance revises the boundaries of the Central Commercial District, as defined by City Code ? 9.2.112, to include additional areas on the east side of South Nevada Ave. between E. Arvada St. and E. Cheyenne Rd. It is unlawful to sit, kneel, recline, or lie down in the Central Commercial District between the hours of seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and ten o'clock (10:00) P.M. daily and between the hours of ten o'clock (10:00) P.M. and three o'clock (3:00) A.M. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Background:
The City first instituted a prohibition in sitting or lying in commercial districts in 2016. The Central Commercial District was expanded to include the west side of S. Nevada Ave. in 2022. At that time, City Council requested that the boundaries of the Central Commercial District be reviewed within a few years to address additional commercial districts. City staff has reviewed areas on the east side of S. Nevada Ave. and recommends an expansion of the Central Commercial District.

The City first instituted a prohibition in sitting or lying in commercial districts in 2016. The Central Commercial District was expanded to include the west side of S. Nevada Ave. in 2022.
