Title

A Resolution authorizing the acquisition of real property and a temporary construction easement on property identified as El Paso County tax schedule number 55000-00-380

  Presenter:

Troy Stover, Business Park Development Director, Colorado Springs Airport Economic Development

Body

  Summary:

This resolution involves a request to City Council to authorize the Airport enterprise to purchase a portion of land (2.03 acres) in fee simple and a temporary construction easement (21,000 SF) from Cygnet Land, LLC for the Airport Stormwater Channel Improvements Project.

  Background:

In order to meet the stormwater permit, downstream improvements are required for existing and future growth of the Airport and Peak Innovation Park (Peak). This project will be a significant improvement to protect adjacent landowners from negative stormwater impacts. The design of the downstream improvements has been approved by the adjacent stakeholders. The Airport would purchase a small amount of land (2.03 acres) and a temporary construction easement (21,000 SF) to complete the improvements.

These downstream improvements will protect the Bluestem Prairie Open Space and Cygnet land. Peak Metropolitan District is prepared to fund the construction expenses associated with this project in order to meet stormwater requirements.

The acquisition of the land and temporary construction easement are in compliance with the Real Estate Manual.
