Title
A Resolution Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement for the Renewal of the CDL Third Party Testing Unit License between the City of Colorado Springs and the State of Colorado
Presenter:
Danielle Delgado, Human Resources Manager, Human Resources
Body
Summary:
The purpose of this resolution is to continue the authorization for Commercial Driver License (CDL) testing by the City of Colorado Springs on behalf of the State of Colorado. Allowing the City to renew this intergovernmental agreement (IGA) as a third party testing unit provides the City with the ability to qualify employees to carry out commercial driving functions while maintaining a high level of safety to the general public.
Background:
Colorado Revised Statute 42-2-407 allows for commercial driving testers employed by commercial driver’s license testing units to administer the driving skills tests. The City has been authorized to provide CDL testing by prior IGAs since 2009. The current IGA is set to expire June 30, 2025. The IGA to be approved by this resolution will continue the City’s authorization by the Department of Revenue to administer the required test for the City’s CDL drivers.
Previous Council Action:
Previous IGA’s were signed on June 9, 2009, October 13, 2015, and June 14, 2020.
