Summary:
Pursuant to City Charter ? 4-40(f)(5) and City Code ? 1.2.201(B), subject to confirmation by the concurring vote of a majority of the members of City Council, the Mayor shall appoint the head or director of the department relating to Planning, a position currently titled Director, City Planning Department.
Background:
Following a national search, Mr. Walker was unanimously chosen by the selection committee from over 30 candidates.
Mr. Walker will oversee long range planning projects, urban planning, land use review and the development review enterprise. He will report to Deputy Chief of Staff Travis Easton. Kevin has served in the interim role since June. Prior to that, he had a long and successful career providing consulting and management services and working with homeowner's associations and special districts in the Pikes Peak Region

Financial Implications:
If confirmed as the Director, City Planning Department, Mr. Walker's initial salary will be set within the range for Director, City Planning Department established by City Ordinance No. 24-16 regarding the 2024 salary structure for civilian and sworn municipal employees. It is requested that the effective date of his appointment be October 22, 2024.
