  Summary:

To provide City Council with an update on the January Extreme Winter Event and SW Migrants.

 

  Background: 

  The PPROEM is responsible for the city and/or region’s response to a number of crises, as well as training staff and elected officials, and creating emergency response plans and running exercises to prepare the city for a variety of potential impacts. 

  Previous Council Action:

The City and County signed an IGA in 2019 establishing the joint office

  Stakeholder Process:

PPROEM maintains regular contact with community partners, county agencies, and State organizations. A meeting of stakeholders involved in cold weather sheltering is set for February 28. This group will discuss strategies for improvement which will be documented in an After-Action Report.  PPROEM is in regular contact with local partners, the Denver Office of Emergency Management, and State agencies to ensure informed contingency planning for an unplanned influx of SW migrants into the Pikes Peak Region.
