A resolution to support September 2014 as National Preparedness Month in the City of Colorado Springs, urging all citizens and businesses to develop their own emergency plan and to promote overall preparedness

 Background:
National Preparedness Month creates an important opportunity for residents of Colorado Springs to prepare their homes, businesses and community for events, from natural disasters to potential terrorist attacks.  Investing in the preparedness of ourselves, our families, businesses and community can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities and in our nation.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Ready Campaign, Citizen Corps, the Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management, and other federal, state, local, private, and volunteer agencies are working to increase public activities in preparing for emergencies and to educate individuals on how to take action.
