Summary:
This is an intergovernmental agreement with the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder for the 2023 November Coordinated Election.
Background:
State law requires all entities participating in the November 7, 2023, Coordinated Election to sign and return intergovernmental agreements to participate in this election by no later than August 28, 2023.
Previous Council Action:
On July 25, 2023, City Council passed a resolution declaring their intention to hold a Special Municipal Election and to participate in the 2023 November Coordinated Election being conducted by the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder.
On August 22, 2023, City Council will consider referring one ballot question for a Special Municipal Election to be placed on the 2023 November Coordinated Election.
Financial Implications:
The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder provided an estimate of $ 402,887.24 for the City’s share of the cost to participate in the 2023 Coordinated Election. An analysis will be done to determine if a supplemental appropriation is needed, or if this amount can be accommodated within the current General Costs appropriation.
