  Summary:

Colorado Springs Utilities (Utilities) is proposing a change to the Electric Cost Adjustment (ECA) rate effective October 1, 2024.  The proposed ECA rate adjustment changes the current rate of $0.0255 per kWh to $0.0301 per kWh.

 

  Background: 

Utilities performs continuous monitoring of fuel related rates with monthly updates provided to the Utilities Board.

  Previous Council Action:

On March 26, 2024, City Council approved the ECA rate of $0.0255 per kWh by Resolution 27-24.

 

  Financial Implications:

Implementing the proposed rates will impact the respective customer’s Sample Total Monthly Electric bill:
         
                     Residential electric bill increase of $3.22 or 3.3%
                     Commercial electric bill increase of $27.60 or 4.5%
                     Industrial electric bill increase of $1,840.00 or 5.2%
