Summary:
Pursuant to City Charter Section 12-60(a)(1), following the City Clerk's certification that a sufficient petition has been filed, the City Council shall order a recall election to be held. The City Clerk issued the Clerk's Certificate on January 14, 2015. Pursuant to City Charter Section 12-60(a)(1), a recall election shall, generally, be held on a Tuesday fixed by it, not less than thirty (30) days nor more than sixty (60) days from the date of the Clerk's Certificate; and City Charter Section 12-60(a)(1) provides that Council may, in its discretion, postpone the recall election beyond sixty (60) days from certification, to a municipal election occurring within ninety (90) days from the Clerk's Certificate. A General Municipal Election is set to be held on April 7, 2015 in compliance with City Charter Section 11-20. It is in the best fiscal interest of the citizens of Colorado Springs, to hold the recall election with the General Municipal Election, which is within ninety (90) days from the Clerk's Certificate, to avoid the expense of an additional election.
