  Summary:

A public hearing will be conducted for City Council to consider establishing a Natural Gas Integrity Federal Compliance Charge (NGIFCC) in Colorado Springs Utilities' (Utilities) Natural Gas Rate Schedules, effective July 1, 2026, as detailed in the March 2026 Rate Case.  

 

  Background: 

On March 3, 2026, Colorado Springs Utilities submitted the March 2026 Rate Case, including resolutions, tariff sheets, and all supporting documentation for proposed changes to the City Clerk.

In accordance with the City Code of the City of Colorado Springs § 12.1.108, copies of the rate filing were available for public inspection in the City Clerk office beginning on March 3, 2026.  Notice of the proposed changes was provided by publication in The Gazette on March 12, 2026.  The March 2026 Rate Case filing was also posted on the Colorado Springs Utilities’ website at www.csu.org, and electronic copies were provided to City Council members.

  Previous Council Action:

On March 10, 2026, City Council approved the proposed public hearing date of
April 14, 2026.

 

  Financial Implications:

The NGIFCC is proposed to recover accelerated Distribution Integrity Management Program costs required for federal compliance and not included in Utilities' five-year rate case.
