Title

A Resolution Designating July as National Park and Recreation Month

  Presenter:

David Leinweber, Councilmember At-Large
Britt I Haley - Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director

Body

  Summary:

To highlight the breadth and depth of the Colorado Springs parks system, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is asking City Council to recognize July as National Park and Recreation Month.  This year’s theme - “Build Together, Play Together” - celebrates the many ways park and recreation professionals across the country help build strong, vibrant, resilient communities.

  Background:

Since 1985, people in the United States have celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building communities through the power of parks and recreation and to recognize the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals, along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers, that maintain our country’s local, community and state parks.
