A Resolution Confirming the Mayor’s Appointment of Joel Pratt as Municipal Court Judge

  Summary:

City Charter § 4-40(f)(2) provides that the Mayor shall appoint Municipal Court Judges to serve at his pleasure, subject to confirmation by the concurring vote of a majority of the members of City Council.  The duties of a Municipal Court Judge are outlined in Chapter 11 of City Code.

 

  Background: 

Mayor Suthers and Council Members Helms and Donelson conducted interviews upon the recommendation of three candidates from the Judicial Interview Panel, which consisted of five members. (Two municipal court judges and three community attorneys)

  Financial Implications:

If confirmed as Municipal Court Judge, Mr. Pratt will be paid $590.90 per docket day prorated by the number of per docket days worked. Such pay is consistent with the rate of pay for other Municipal Court Judges.
