Summary: The City desires the approval an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City of Colorado Springs and the Adams County Sheriff's Office, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, the City of Aurora, the Colorado Department of Public Safety of the State of Colorado, the City of Commerce City, the City and County of Denver, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the City of Grand Junction, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Jefferson, and the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Mesa, Colorado. The IGA does not require any multiyear fiscal obligation and allows for the City of Colorado Springs to terminate participation with written notice. The attached IGA allows for the sharing of information between the parties' respective law enforcement agencies.
Previous Council Action: None
Background: The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has participated in information sharing with other regional law enforcement agencies utilizing a technology called COPLINK. As the number of participating agencies has grown considerable in the past few years, it has become necessary to create an oversight board. The attached IGA will facilitate this process and allow the CSPD to continue to participate in this critical function.
