Summary:
This is an intergovernmental agreement with the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder for the 2019 Coordinated Election.
Previous Council Action:
On July 9, 2019 City Council passed a resolution declaring their intention to hold a Special Municipal Election and to participate in the 2019 Coordinated Election being conducted by the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder.
On August 13, 2019, City Council will consider potential ballot questions for a Special Municipal Election and refer questions to be placed on a ballot in a coordinated November 2019 election.
Background:
State law requires all entities participating in the November 5, 2019 Coordinated Election to sign and return intergovernmental agreements to participate in this election by no later than August 27, 2019.
Financial Implications:
The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder estimates it will cost the City $283,389.84 to participate in the 2019 Coordinated Election. An analysis will be done to determine if a supplemental appropriation is needed, or if this amount can be accommodated within the current General Costs appropriation.
