Summary:
The attached ordinance addresses a few Council requested changes to the Code of Ethics, as well as clarifying edits proposed by the City Attorney’s Office.
Background:
The proposed ordinance would clarify event attendance and participation for elected officials, exclude ceremonial events from the endorsement prohibition for elected officials, and create an exception to conflicts of interest for elected officials to serve on 501(c)(3) boards, among other more minor updates to the code. The Code of Ethics has not been amended since 2019.
