Title

A Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Transfer Funds in the General Fund from the Public Works Department to the Planning/Economic Development /Housing Department

  Presenter:

Travis Easton, Public Works Director

Body

  Summary:

We are seeking Council approval to move budget and appropriation authority within the General Fund from the Public Works Department to Planning Department in the amount of $1,058,725.  Pursuant to City Code 1.5.105, City Council may authorize the Mayor to transfer funds from one group or department to another within the same fund by resolution.  This will facilitate the transfer of the development review functions that are currently budgeted in Public Works/City Engineering over to the Planning Department.

  Previous Council Action:

City Council adopted the 2016 budget per Ordinance 15-86.

  Background:

The Administration would like to consolidate the development review functions into a single department to create a more simplified and efficient process for our customers. This item supports the City’s strategic goal relating to excelling city services by combining all development review functions under one department to provide better customer service
