Title

Ordinance No. 19-95 amending Ordinance No. 14-20, Section 3; Repealing Ordinance No. 18-9; and Prescribing the Salary of the City Attorney

  Presenter:

Mike Sullivan, Human Resources Director
Mayor John Suthers

Body

  Summary:

City Charter Article XIII, Section 13-80 requires City Council to prescribe the salary of the City Attorney by ordinance.

  Background:

It is recommended that Wynetta Massey’s annual salary as City Attorney be increased to $206,560, representing a 5% increase effective December 28, 2019.  Ms. Massey received her first pay increase since her April 8, 2014 appointment on January 1, 2018.  The proposed salary is within the range established for City Attorney/Chief Legal Officer in the 2020 Salary Structure, and is below the market average reflected therein for that position.

  Previous Council Action:

Wynetta Massey was appointed City Attorney on April 8, 2014 (Ordinance No. 14-20) at an annual salary of $192,276.  Ordinance No. 14-20 was amended by Ordinance 18-9, thereby prescribing the annual salary of the City Attorney at $196,723 effective January 1, 2018.

  Financial Implications:

The salary increase is $9,836 annually.
