Summary:
Lori Bellingham was appointed to serve a five year term on 4/1/2020, and turned in her resignation on 10/06/2020. Mayor Suthers, along with City Councilmembers Jill Gaebler and Tom Strand, Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority Board Chair, Randy Case and Executive Director, Jariah Walker conducted interviews to fill the remaining year of Ms. Bellingham’s term. Mayor Suthers recommends Sam Friesema for appointment.

Background:
The Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority (CSURA) was established by the City of Colorado Springs City Council in 1970 through the approval of Ordinance No. 3995.
The current board consists of nine commissioners appointed for a term of five years and terms are staggered so one vacancy occurs each year. Accordance with HB-1348, four additional commissioner positions have been added to the board: one to be appointed by El Paso County, one to be appointed by the School Districts, one to be appointed by the Special Districts and one to be appointed by the Mayor.
Previous Council Action:
Lori Bellingham was confirmed to serve on the Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority Board in April, 2020, with an expiring term of April 1, 2025. Lori Bellingham turned in her resignation from the board in October 2020.
