Summary:
Presentation highlighting the mission and vision of the Food Policy Advisory Board. The Colorado Springs Food Policy Advisory Board was established in September of 2015 in order to provide ongoing analysis and recommendations to local governments regarding policies, programs, operations, and land use regulations affecting local food issues. They are a legislatively mandated, volunteer-based board comprised of 8 members diverse in both experience and background.
Our mission is to foster a healthy and resilient local food system that contributes to economic vitality, healthy food access, and environmental sustainability in Colorado Springs and El Paso County.

Background:
The Food Policy Advisory Board was established to advise City Council and the El Paso County Commissioners on matters of policies, programs, operations, and land use rights affecting local food issues. The board will consist of seven regular members representing a cross-section of the community, who are El Paso County residents, having knowledge and experience in the local food sectors; production, processing and manufacturing, distribution, health education and market development, food recovery, and food security. Board members are eligible to serve two consecutive three-year terms of staggered length.
