Background:
One in four citizens in Colorado Springs is a TRICARE beneficiary. While the benefit itself doesn't fall under the purview of City Council, recent changes to TRICARE will affect many citizens of Colorado Springs.
Information about the benefit itself can be found on the TRICARE website: www.tricare.mil. Recent changes to copayments, catastrophic caps, point of service fees, medications, dental services, among other things, have been implemented. Non-active duty personnel can visit any urgent care that is in the TRICARE network without a referral.
In addition to the changes to the TRICARE benefit, on January 1, 2018, the contractor that manages the benefit recently changed from United Healthcare Military and Veterans to Health Net Federal Services (HNFS).
Questions and concerns should be referred to HNFS via their website (www.tricare-west.com) or Customer Service at 1-844-866-9378.
