Summary:
City Charter Article III, Section 3-10(e) and City Code Section 1.2.203 require that the salary of the City Auditor be prescribed by ordinance.
The proposed Ordinance would repeal Ordinance No. 15-42, approving the salary of the City Auditor, Denny Nestor, at $146,221.92 annually, together with benefits, commencing March 29, 2015, along with all prior ordinances addressing the salary of the City Auditor, and prescribe the new annual salary of the City Auditor at $148,780.80, together with applicable benefits, commencing January 1, 2017.
Previous Council Action:
Pursuant to City Ordinance No. 15-42, the annual salary of City Auditor, Denny Nestor, was prescribed at $146,221.92, together with applicable benefits, commencing March 29, 2015.
Ordinance Nos. 13-59, 13-76, and 14-33, superseded by Ordinance No. 15-42, also previously prescribed the applicable annual salary of the City Auditor.
Background:
The proposed salary is within the range for City Auditor as established by City Ordinance No. 16-112, regarding the 2017 salary structure for civilian and sworn municipal employees.
The ordinance establishes the effective date of the salary increase as retroactive to January 1, 2017, which is the date on which other City employee salary increases commenced.
Financial Implications:
The salary increase is $2,558.88 annually for the City Auditor.
Board/Commission Recommendation:
City Council's Audit Committee, which consists of members of the public and two City Councilmembers, has reviewed and recommends the salary increase for the City Auditor.
