Councilmember Leinweber gave a brief overview of the challenges small
business owners face, expressed appreciation for small businesses, and
read the Resolution recognizing April 29 to May 3, 2024 as Small Business
Week in the Pikes Peak Region.
Councilmember O’Malley expressed gratitude for Councilmember
Talarico, Councilmember Risley, and Councilmember Leinweber who own
small businesses in the community.
Councilmember Risley stated small businesses are powerful economic
drivers and commended the commitment small business owners have to
their employees and families.
President Helms identified the support from organizations such as the
Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and EDC and Colorado
Springs Black Chamber of Commerce.
Councilmember Henjum expressed appreciation for small businesses.
Brandon Eldridge, Executive Director, Pikes Peak Small Business
Development Center, Jonathan Liebert, Better Business Bureau, and Dani
Bolling, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Sales,
Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and EDC, expressed gratitude
for the Resolution, the support of the City, and the community partners who
support small businesses.
Motion by Councilmember Leinweber, seconded by Councilmember Henjum,
that the Resolution recognizing April 29th to May 3rd, 2024 as Small Business
Week in the Pikes Peak Region be adopted. The motion passed by a vote of
8-0-1-0
