brief history of National Volunteer Week, spoke about the importance of  
volunteers, expressed appreciation for the over 6,000 volunteers who  
contributed 138,109 hours of service to the community in 2023 and for City  
Council recognizing the volunteers, and identified several of the many ways  
people are able to volunteer in the parks system and for stormwater.  
Adrian Vasquez, Chief, Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), Tim  
De Leon, Deputy Chief Colorado Springs Fire Department, and Michael  
Mersman, Intern Volunteer Coordinator, CSPD, expressed appreciation for  
all the volunteers in the community.

the citizens who volunteer for the City.

Vitality’s mission and support of this Resolution.  
Councilmember Avila shared a brief history of June Waller’s husband’s  
experience with trying to obtain housing on Fort Carson and her husband’s  
family’s experience with trying to obtain housing in Pleasant Valley.

President Helms presented the first reading only to set the public hearing  
for April 23, 2024 for the Ordinance amending the zoning map of the City  
relating to 4.783 acres for the future construction of a fire station located at  
2465 Interquest Parkway from A (Agricultural) to PF (Public Facilities) zone  
district.

Motion by Councilmember Donelson, seconded by President Pro Tem  
Crow-Iverson, that the Ordinance amending the zoning map of the City of  
Colorado Springs pertaining to 4.783 acres located at 2465 Interquest Parkway  
from A (Agricultural) to PF (Public Facilities) zone district, for the purpose of  
providing notice and setting a public hearing date for April 23, 2024, to consider  
the Colorado Springs Fire Station No. 24 zone change ordinance be approved on  
first reading. The motion passed by a vote of 8-0-1-0

Alex Ryden, City Council Communications Specialist, gave a brief  
background and the process for creating the City Council annual report to  
the Citizens for April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.  
Councilmember Henjum and Councilmember Donelson expressed  
appreciation for all the work which went into the report.  
Motion by President Pro Tem Crow-Iverson, seconded by Councilmember  
Leinweber, that the Resolution adopting the City Council's Annual Report to the  
Citizens for April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 The motion passed by a vote of 8-0-1-0
